PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
Responsible for the development of new products in the industrial and aerospace filtration industries. This position is also responsible for continued development and refinement of existing products, manufacturing processes, technical marketing, and technical sales assistance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Participate in the specific phases of design; investigate interchangeability, replacement, cost factors, and ease of manufacture.
Conceptualize ideas and gain understanding of inadequacy in existing designs.
Propose several possible solutions to design problems and material selection; validate manufacturability, and use proper judgment when prototyping.
Develop and design filters and related devices as outlined by the business.
Demonstrate proficiency at sourcing of materials and components for new and existing product designs.
Understand implementation and management of quality control systems and procedures.
Produce and provide design drawings for both management and manufacturing personnel during the development phase.
Follow prescribed procedures and, under minimal supervision, conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components.
Maintain accurate records throughout the development process in order to comply with company and government standards and/or regulations.
Work with manufacturing throughout the development phase of product development in order to ensure that products are produced in a safe, efficacious and quality manner while keeping within established time frames.
Work with management on the development of new products and/or ideas.
Demonstrate capacity to determine with marketing and research if data or analysis could be useful as education or selling tool in a sales white paper; contribute to publication effort.
Develop a general market knowledge of competitor product offerings.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or a similar degree.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
BSME plus Two (2) years of product development experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated understanding and wide application of basic to standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques, and a working knowledge of other disciplines.
Familiar with various types of mechanisms, materials, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), and drawing standards.
Demonstrated capacity for solving problems through creative designs.
Proficient with CAD modeling and appropriate techniques (part families and assemblies). Solid Works is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a contributing member of a team and ability to effectively interact and clearly communicate concepts, ideas, and knowledge to other individuals and teams.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience in the development of filters and/or filtration equipment preferred but not required.
