Position Reports to: Accounting Manager, COE
Status: Full-time (Non-Exempt)
IDEAL CANDIDATE AND OVERVIEW:
A dependable, trained accountant who is a self-starter and has a knack for identifying and implementing process improvements for AP related transactions. The ideal individual has a positive attitude and enjoys managing a high volume of transactions and always holds strongly customer service orientation. Someone with the ability to multi-task and with demonstrated experience integrating new entities will be strongly considered. The ideal candidate will be comfortable learning new software systems and willing to advance their knowledge of systems in order to be more effective. Someone who enjoys the challenge of establishing new systems/processes and someone who is a team player that can work well with all levels of management would be welcomed in this job.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
* AA Degree in Accounting is required. Successful completion of Accounting Principles I and II is required (with understanding of accrual accounting and matching principle).
* Candidate should have strong understanding of accounting such as accrual concepts and focus on deadlines and cutoff considerations.
* Experience must include accounts payable processing and
GL reconciliation to subsidiary ledgers.
* Computer literate including heavy experience with MS Office and proficient with a 10-key calculator.
* Demonstrated experience with MS Excel is required; intermediate
level of skill with MS Excel is strongly preferred.
* Experience with Cougar Mountain software preferred.
* Minimum 3 years accounts payable experience required. Experience working with remote locations and consolidation-related transactions required.
* Experience would demonstrate strong organizational skills,
customer service focus (to internal customers), attention to detail, and appreciation of accuracy.
* Experience would show the ability to perform duties independently and as part of a team.
BASIC FUNCTION:
This position manages a high volume of accounts payable transactions, entering payroll transactions from ADP reports, preparing journal entries, account reconciliation, issuing staff cards (for volunteers deployed on disasters), maintaining AP files, and point of sale entry. The position is expected to find ways to further automate all procurement processes. Position may support POS users at several locations and may involve training others on using POS. Take a lead role in developing processes surrounding procurement approval processes. Supports Senior AP Accountant. Position deals with internal customers on a daily basis as well as vendors and constituents and must hold a high value on customer service relations.
