POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
QLC has several positions open for Resident Assistants, shifts vary. QLC is seeking individuals with a High School Diploma or equivalent and one year experience in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or child care setting or experience working with persons who have a developmental disability. College education can be substituted for experience requirement. Knowledge or experience with Medicaid Waiver and In-Home Support/Supported Living preferred, but not required. Must have a valid Florida’s driver’s license and a clear driving record. Position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with individuals, co-workers, and others. You will have or is able to obtain CPR, First Aid, and HIV certification within 30 days of hire and must maintain certification during employment. One position requires staff to be fluent in American Sign Language.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide necessary supports to the individuals and assist them with: maintaining personal hygiene, household management, meal preparation, transporting individuals to community locations in designated vehicles using seat belts and employing all traffic safety rules. You will maintain documentation according to established policy and procedures, accurately, timely, legibly, and without prompts from one’s supervisor. You will reinforce individual’s appropriate behaviors/interactions, and use appropriate behavioral interventions to minimize disruptive behaviors. You will encourage individuals to make choices that enhance positive social relationships, improve health, and appeal to their likes and desires, and increase their competence and independence. You will communicate with staff, family, guardians and individuals, using a non-defensive communication style that respects each individual and is understanding of their feelings and needs. You will keep immediate supervisor informed regarding any issues or concerns and will perform OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED.
