Position: NEWS ASSIGNMENT EDITOR
Job category: Television/Radio/Newspaper
Description: Responsibilities include taking a creative approach to developing and assigning news stories, supervising reporters and photojournalists during news coverage, and planning and supervising all functions of the assignment desk. The Assignment Editor assesses and develops news tips, and provide the news managers and newscast producers with a comprehensive list of available material throughout the course of the day. Plans and assigns live shots and is a liaison to the Production and Engineering departments. Other duties as assigned by News Director or Assignment Manager.

Candidate must have a working knowledge of all news department functions.
Must demonstrate ability to manage people and news resources. Ability to work in fast-paced environment with daily deadlines and changing priorities. A college degree in journalism, communications or a related field preferred.
